BY THE END OF THIS MODULE, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO:

 

1. WRITE ACADEMIC ARTICLES IN ENGLISH

 

 Specifically, you will be able to:

 

  • distinguish between scientific / academic English and informal English
  • hedge
  • comment on data
  • express information concisely by avoiding "wordiness"
  • use linking devices effectively
  • use editing (proof-reading) techniques
  • create a high-impact title
  • construct a powerful introduction
  • provide a memorable conclusion / discussion section

 

 

2. CREATE AN EFFECTIVE ABSTRACT

 

Specifically, you will be able to:

  • summarise your work concisely
  • interest the reader in your topic
  • use typical expressions in Abstracts with ease

 

 

 

 

3. WRITE AN EFFECTIVE COVER LETTER

Specifically, you will be able to:

 

  • explain your current situation and motivation clearly and concisely
  • distinguish between academic English and "correspondence" English

 

 

 

4. WRITE A CLEAR ANSWER TO REVIEWERS

 

Specifically, you will be able to:

  • explain your views clearly, concisely and diplomatically
  • provide feedback and answers
