Description | This course is inspired by this paper: journals.sagepub.com/doi/pdf/10.1177/0956797613504966 The 'new statistics' refers to recommended practices, including estimation based on effect sizes, confidence intervals, and meta-analysis. The techniques are not new, but adopting them widely would be new for many researchers, as well as highly beneficial. Increasingly, there are compelling calls for a change in the way research is reported and in the thinking regarding research results. (e.g. Amrhein V, Greenland S, McShane B. Retire statistical significance. Nature. 2019;567:305‐307). This course will introduce and guide students on adopting this approach.
